I learned a lot about England from this for example I learned that the steam engine came from this time and that england is at the forefront of the technological advancements of the age. I also learned we were dealing with the harsh aftermath of two wars and poverty was rampant.
England is a very different place today than it was back then a few of the inventions include Incandescent light, Steam locomotive concept, Percussion ignition the foundation of modern guns, Haymaking machine, Macadam road making technique, Portland cement (concrete), Electromagnet, Reaping machine. These are just a few examples of the innovation that was going on in england at the time. It has changed the same way the rest of the world has changed life has been made better especially for the lower class and the increased life expectancy has definitely had a positive effect on life here.
I think my favorite product we produced was the compressed air powered steam engine mock up. It took a lot of time and effort to get working correctly. When it was finished there was a big sense of accomplishment because of the many problems we encountered such as a lack of precision in the parts or having trouble finding screws to use in the project I feel that this project was top quality and I learned a lot from it.
I definitely learned most about how steam engines worked and how the wars England had participated in affected life there.
I think that one thing that I would change about this project is our booth setup. I think that it was a mistake to have the posters where we did I think it drew attention from the rest of our booth mainly the food.
In this project I learned a lot of skills involving dividing work up well and learning how to problem solve with my steam engine. I really enjoyed this project and hope that future classes have the opportunity to do it in the future.
Pictured Below is a photo of me and my group on exhibition, Me working on the steam engine, the two posters my group produced, and a front and back of the steam engine.
