Project description:In this project we learned about a book of our choosing that was banned or challenged for various reasons. Then we designed bookmarks that relate to our book and show why it should/shouldn't be allowed in schools. After creating bookmarks we had to make or bring a food to a grade-wide potluck. The last part of our project was our exhibition at barnes and noble in which we handed out copies of our bookmark to people who came as well as explaining our book and why it was banned. One thing that I had a challenge with in this project was knowing what to do for a bookmarks it took me awhile to know what would look good and would make sense for my book. I think the easiest part of this project was reading the book because there was not much aside from reading and understanding the content. I received feedback on my bookmark from a few different people. Some of them include Aidan, Ca’Dayzia, Fredo and Teia. They all helped me polish up my final product. I think the journals were kind of cool to see what others were doing. I think that it would be more beneficial to just do a summary of the parts read rather than the other prompts. I think lord of the flies had a very interesting concept and would definitely recommend it to someone as a good read I feel that although the language is a little advanced at times the concepts are still easy to understand. I think that in this project I really put a lot of effort into making a somewhat good looking and meaningful bookmark (shown below) despite my extremely lacking drawing skills so I would say that my bookmark is something im proud of. One of my conversations I had at exhibition was with tom Foerster and we discussed the plot of the and how we felt about the deaths of certain unnamed characters(Because of spoilers). I feel that I put a lot of effort into this project and I hope that shows in my work. I feel that I deserve an “A” for this project.
